Overview
The Accountancy professional major trains students to be qualified, competent
and confident accountants. It equips them with strong academic and professional
knowledge and skills in key subjects such as accounting, assurance and attestation,
law, taxation and information technology. At the same time, students will also receive
training in general business knowledge so that they will appreciate the business
environment inside and outside the organisation.
The Bachelor of Accountancy Degree is recognised by the Accounting and Corporate
Regulatory Authority. The Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) has also accredited
the Bachelor of Accountancy Degree for direct entry to the Singapore Qualification
Programme.
Career Prospects
The Bachelor of Accountancy Degree is recognised by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). This means that graduates will have satisfied the qualification requirement for the purpose of registration as a Public Accountant under the Accountants Act (Cap.2).
The Bachelor of Accountancy degree is an accredited degree recognised by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC). Graduates from the programme have direct entry to the Singapore CA Qualification which is a requirement to qualify as Chartered Accountants of Singapore and be members of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
When a student graduates from Singapore University of Social Sciences with a Bachelor of Accountancy, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) will grant some exemptions for the purpose of registering and taking their professional examinations. Graduates will be exempted from the five Certificate Level examinations and the six Operational and Management Level Objective tests from CIMA.
Programme Structure
Students pursuing this full-time programme are required to complete 200 credit units (cu), which include:
- 60 cu SUSS Core Courses
- 125 cu of Major Compulsory courses
- 15 cu of Major Elective courses
