Synopsis

What does it mean to be human in this age of unprecedented technological advancements? How do we responsibly engage with artificial intelligence in navigating topics such as ethics, basic human values, and equality when we consider the evolving landscape of AI and language, with humanity at the core?

This year’s Language in Singapore forum, brought to you by the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences (SHBS) at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), explores the nexus between AI and language to reflect on and reimagine the human experience within the context of technological advancements.

Four speakers, each representing their respective language communities, will draw on their experience with AI and use of language in their professions to explore not only the threats AI poses to jobs, but also the innovative ways in which it can enhance our understanding and appreciation of language, culture, and daily experiences. Together, we will explore the intricate interplay between technology and the human condition to derive insights into the current and future trends shaping the AI and language landscape.
