Full-time Undergraduate Admission Requirements
Application Criteria

^ For SAT, you may submit your scores directly to SUSS (recommended) or through SAT. Our Institution Code for SAT is 7382. All scores must be submitted to SUSS by 31 March of the admission year. SUSS adopts a holistic admissions approach, evaluating applicants not only on your academic achievements but also on your non-academic pursuits, passions, interests, and individual strengths. Those with exceptional talents or notable accomplishments in areas such as co-curricular activities, community service, or volunteer work are encouraged to include these details in your applications.
All shortlisted applicants will undergo up to 3-stage assessment as part of the selection process.
All applications are considered individually on merit, and the offer of admission is dependent on the number of places available in individual programmes. Admission is solely at the discretion of SUSS and the decision is final and binding. SUSS reserves the right to refuse admission and is not obliged to offer an explanation for the non-admission of unsuccessful candidates.
Minimum Age Requirement
Applicants who are Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents or International Students* must be at least 18 years of age as of 1 January of the matriculation year or have completed a minimum of 12 years of formal education beginning with Primary 1 or equivalent, regardless of qualification type.
Applicants who do not meet the requirements will be required to provide schooling history from Primary/ Grade 1 with the enclosed form and upload it to the online application for assessment of the applicant's eligibility for admission.
*Foreign students applying with international qualifications may be waived the minimum age related requirement at the discretion of the University.
Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Requirement for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents
You need to meet one of the following MTL requirements if you have the following education background:
Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level / NUS High School Diploma
- Minimum of D7 for the higher MTL paper taken at the GCE 'O' Level examination.
- Minimum of 'S' grade for the H1 MTL paper or General Studies in Chinese taken at the GCE 'A' Level examination.
- Minimum of 'S' grade for the H2 MTL and Literature taken at the GCE 'A' Level examination.
- Pass in the MTL 'B' Syllabus paper at the GCE 'A' Level examination.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- Pass in SL/HL MTL A: Literature, MTL A: Language and Literature, or Language B MTL paper at IBDP Examination.
IB SL Language ab initio or IGCSE MTL First Language examination does not meet MTL requirement.
You should fulfil the requirement with your assigned MTL (i.e. Chinese, Malay or Tamil) or MTL-in-lieu (i.e. Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, French, German, Japanese or Arabic). Students assigned Burmese or Thai as their MTL-in-lieu and who have studied in a Junior College or Millennia Institute should have applied for MTL exemption at the post-secondary level, and would have received an approval letter from MOE. Approval from MOE is required for any change of language offered or exemption from the MTL requirement.
For those who have obtained MOE's approval to be exempted from offering an MTL or MTL-in-lieu, please submit your approval letter to the Full-time Admissions office no later than 30 June in the year of admission.
Applicants who have not satisfied the requirements above may be admitted on a provisional basis and will be required to attain the MTL requisite within the period of their University study before being permitted to graduate from the University.
English Proficiency Requirement
If you do not have a Grade C6 in GCE 'O' level English Language (or equivalent), you may be required to take additional test(s).
Applicants with qualifications where English is not the medium of instruction are required to submit an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5, or TOEFL score (internet-based) of 85, or MUET* (Malaysian University English Test) score of Band 4.0, or a PTE Academic score of 58, or a C1 Advanced score of 180. All test scores (IELTS / TOEFL / PTE Academic / C1 Advanced) must be obtained within the last 2 years at point of admission. All results must be submitted to SUSS by 31 March of the admission year.
*MUET test scores must be obtained within the last 5 years at point of admission.
Male Applicants
Male applicants who have yet to enlist or are currently enlisted in the National Service may have their places reserved for up to two years, if they are successful in their application.
