Programme Code: GDAIOT

Overview

The current prevailing trends across all industry sectors revolve around digitalization and digital transformation. The success and continuity of businesses now depend on their capacity to embrace and adapt to the wave of digital transformation. Many organizations actively support digitalization and digital transformation initiatives through data science projects, internet of things (IoT) projects like sensor deployment and the reinforcement of IT resources. However, a mere capture of data from sensors and displaying on dashboard does not constitute true digital transformation, and it often yields minimal to no tangible benefits for the business. This situation is akin to purchasing all the ingredients for a recipe and expecting the dish to be magically prepared without any effort.

The Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT) programme offered by the School of Science & Technology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is a specialized program designed to equip students with the fundamentals of IoT devices, IoT networks, data collection, data management and business models. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the key for leveraging the information contained in the data collected from IoT systems. AI and IoT are the corner stones for digital transformation across industries like healthcare, smart cities, agriculture, logistics, and manufacturing. Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), which is a combination of AI and IoT, enables the provisioning of smart and connected solutions by combining the asset intelligence (from AI) and swarm intelligence (from IoT).

This program allows students to excel in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of AI and the IoT, providing a unique educational experience that empowers students to harness the full potential of smart and connected solutions.

Key Features of the Programme

  • Provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights into various IoT business models. Understanding how IoT technologies can create value for businesses is crucial in today's rapidly evolving tech landscape. We cover topics such as IoT Product Development and Monetization, Subscription-based Model, Asset Sharing and Tracking models, giving our students a comprehensive understanding of the commercial aspects of IoT.
  • Prepare students to take AZ-220 Microsoft Azure IoT Developer exam. Through this course, students will be able to set up Azure IoT Hub solution infrastructure, provision and manage the devices, process and manage data and implement IoT edge, business integration and security. Students will gain the skills for maintaining and troubleshooting the configuration of the devices throughout the lifecycle.
  • Go beyond theory by providing hands-on experience in designing AIoT systems.

Career Prospects

The specialized skills acquired during the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things program, including sensor technology, networking, business models, AI and cloud computing, open up a wide range of career opportunities in various industries and sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, supply chain, facility management, industry 4.0, smart city and many more where AIoT solutions continue to drive innovation and transformation. Graduates can pursue roles such as IoT Firmware Engineer, IoT System Engineer, IoT Architect, IoT Developer, AI Engineer and R&D engineer.

Programme Structure

GDAIoT students are required to complete 30 credit units (cu) of coursework. However, students can also opt to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GCAIoT) upon completion of 15 cu of courses and maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Students who complete the specified 30 cu and maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 are eligible for the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT). Courses are based on a 5-cu configuration unless stated otherwise.

ProgStruc-GDAIOT

The candidature for GDAIoT has a minimum period of one (1) year and a maximum period of two (2) years. Classes are conducted in the evenings during weekdays and some Saturday mornings or afternoons, so students can continue to work during the day and study in the evenings or at weekends.
