Provides strategic guidance, ensuring growth, good governance, and alignment with the university’s mission. Comprising distinguished leaders from various fields, the Board plays a crucial role in shaping the university’s direction and upholding the highest standards of governance.
Mr Aaron Tan is a programmer by training and a venture capitalist by profession. He founded his first startup at 13 and subsequently sold two companies before turning 21. Former Singapore Computer Society IT Youth of the Year, Mr Tan was also the bronze medalist in the bi-annual Worldskills Competition. He subsequently took a scholarship from the Infocomm Development Authority and read computer science at Carnegie Mellon and Singapore Management University. 


As a returning scholar, Mr Tan was part of the founding team of Singtel Innov8 Ventures and has since invested in over 100 companies globally. He left the fund in 2016 and founded Carro – Asia Pacific's largest online retailer for cars. In 2021, Financial Times named Carro the fastest growing company in Asia Pacific with revenues of over US$1B annually in 2022. Carro has raised over US$700M to date and was last valued at over US$1B by Softbank Vision Fund and several sovereign funds. Aaron was most recently awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Mr Tan graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSc and MSc from SMU and Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science.
