Synopsis
This workshop is intended to equip instructors with the knowledge and skills necessary for facilitating argumentation-focused discussions in the classroom. It focuses on pedagogical and communication strategies underpinned by argumentation models that enable instructors to create an engaging and intellectually stimulating environment for fostering argumentative discourse among students. Participants will explore theories of argumentation, best practices in for active participation among students, and practical applications to enhance student learning.

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:- State the foundations and theories of argumentation in teaching and learning
- Apply strategies for facilitating argumentation-focussed discussions in lesson planning
- Design scaffolds to support argumentation-focussed discussions
- Promote inclusivity and respectful communication in argumentation-focussed discussions
